What is your favorite nail color from this brand? One of my favorites is sexy divide.

essie polish?

Post by whatsername_ »

I usually love essie, but I recently bought the shade Ballet Slippers, and I have to put like, 8 coats on to even make a difference.
I love the color, though.
What other similar polishes/shades give better pay out? :(

That happened to me too with their "Suagr Daddy" shade. That color reminds me of one I have from NYC. not the best quality, but I'm sure opi has a similar color!

I returned ballet slippers for that same reason. I haven't bought a light color from essie since because of that. Never have problems with their dark or bright polishes

I think those colours are meant to be light a light elegant colour for your nails, if that makes sense..

I have sugar daddy and I like it because we can't wear nail polish to school.

Only Essie polish I've ever bought was Butler, Please and it was the last time. Worst formula ever and I don't want to risk dishing out more money on that brand and have it suck!

I love Essie polishes, but I have had the same experiences with the really light colors. I like them because the formula goes on smoothly, and I love the color selection.

I usually just do several coats.

I find them to be a bit hit or miss and have had the same bad experience with many of the lighter colours. I have quite a few Essie polishes but have stopped buying them unless I find a colour that is really unique that I just have to get. OPI is much better quality.

Ballet Slippers is one of their famous polishes for French manicures so it's not really meant to be opaque. Essie is known/started out MOSTLY STRICTLY for French manicures, and that's why you find that their lighter or older colours are more sheer. I suggest you to swatch in store or Google swatches before you buy.

My general rule is if it ain't opaque in three coats, it's not really worth the work.

They have great colors but the polish is really runny..
