Well that's excellent, wish we could see more complaints on Stephanie's channel too. Though it seems like the gift unwrapping is starting to annoy people. Interesting comment from someone saying that maybe they are now doing two channels to keep the income clearly separated. Is there a rift maybe between Michael and his family? Someone commented on the Lalande vlog with Michael how he seems so much happier when not at home, I don't see that at all as he always strikes me as supremely uncomfortable in his skin, but it was still interesting. Michael is clearly the one behind bringing in all the extra income like the Patreon, Youtube money etc., so maybe he's starting to see that and trying to detach himself from his kind of bland and honestly a bit unmotivated family?

The gift thing is starting to annoy people as well as the volunteer thing since she can afford to pay them and at this point its just icky. She's greedy and its becoming obvious and people seem to be catching on to that. As far as keeping the channels separated for income purposes, that isn't a thing. Youtube and the adsense setup allow you to see how much money is made from each video so if they uploaded their own videos to Doing it Ourselves, they'd easily be able to see how much their videos made. Its a cash grab. Also the video is called 'Doing it OURSELVES' so the whole thing makes zero sense. I do suspect his family is jealous though and wants a bigger piece of the pie since they literally gave him that daft cottage. He does seem insecure. He's obviously gay but part of me wonders if his family just doesn't know it. Thats the vibe I get and I hope I'm wrong because thats very sad. He is much more at ease at LaLande where behind the scenes he can probably be more 'gay' around Stephanie, a safe space, since she is almost certainly bi or a lesbian. Why can't she keep any of the fabulous men in her life... That Hannah girl def seems to be a lesbian and I suspect that theres something going on there. Quite odd to take a bed and breakfast guest with you and your mother to Avignon...

Re: The Chateau Diaries and other chateau channels
You mean "Hanni", that weird woman from England who moved in all of a sudden? I find her so strange, she seems like a doting fangirl - and is a Patron too?! - and it's so uncomfortable to watch. During that Avignon trip you could tell she was trying everything she could to please Stephanie. Actually you may have a point about her being lesbian/bi, but where/how do you see Stephanie to be bi? I don't get that vibe at all as she seems super fixated on men.Gurutard wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 6:56 am

Well, she doesn't seem to have a boyfriend and its odd that she had two seemingly great bfs (Nick and Michael Potts) and yet for some reason they didnt work out but are still friendly... I dont know. I have a hard time reading her because she seems extremely fake to me now.

Also Marie Wiik, the florist, barely puts out content, has a patreon, got sent tons of crap to set of her floral SCHTUUUDIO and yet barely makes content. Made a new 'channel trailer' where she's on a girls trip to somewhere...like I don't get these people.

Re: The Chateau Diaries and other chateau channels
What is the point of a floral studio in the middle of nowhere? I don't get it either. Is it to do the chateau flower arrangements? Confusing. Everyone is trying to get into the grift now, I guess. Are Marie and Stephanie even still friends? They hardly spend time together, when before they were inseparable.
Re: The Chateau Diaries and other chateau channels
I think Michael and Stephanie had a falling out they seem so awkward around each other now. Stephanie definitely deletes comments there’s never any negative comments at all. I was expecting them on that video where she went to that expensive hotel while also pulling that “please watch the ads and donate to our patreon so we can fix the chateau we don’t have any money “. Also it’s weird how Stephanie doesn’t seem to do anything? I get not doing anything like carpentry but nothing even began to get fixed up until the volunteers came?? Sorry for the rant haha I just found this thread

Re: The Chateau Diaries and other chateau channels
I watched some of the older vlogs lately (they calm me down before sleep, hahaha) and it's quite striking how much more Stephanie did: she was helping prepare the meals for the guests, serve to them and engage with them, she did upholstery of beds or sew cushions. Sure, the grunt work was done by volunteers, but at least she was working every day on the chateau. It feels like except for Selmar, no one is doing anything anymore lately. They all just film each other. Nati does the admin, which is probably a nightmare to do with a chaotic person like Stephanie, so she better get paid, and I guess Marie does all the cooking? But what does Stephanie do except edit videos for her now 3000 new channels?!Bittybit wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2020 8:09 pmI think Michael and Stephanie had a falling out they seem so awkward around each other now. I found her and Michael super awkward as well, just kind of wooden and unnatural. But what could have happened between them I wonder?

Maybe it has something to do with her channel with Oliver/her proposed channel with Michael. Maybe he said 'Sef' I'm too busy being a straight guy obsessinv over Beatrix Potter to do that channel now. I mean, mate, I still haven't got around to making that 18th century dressing gown out of that very expensive fabric you gave me because I gotta spend all my time filming B roll and twitching. And she got pissed. That, or, she said "Well Michael Petherick you are a genius darling but actually Oliver knows far more than you know about culture and art so I'm actually going to create the new channel with him. I've known him all my life, probably have a sexual history with him, and I'd rahter spend time with someone that is a real human, rather than a facade. Toodle pip." and he got pissed.

It's interesting that it was Michael who told Stephanie to start her Youtube channel - she owes him big time.

Re: The Chateau Diaries and other chateau channels
I wish more people discussed them on here. I think that could be slightly telling about their fate though. If the people don't care enough to search out more about them and chat more then they may not be viable for the longterm. At any rate, did you see Michael Petherick's last two vlogs. Literal 30 minute videos of him carrying 'Aga' parts up basement steps and the other one basically reading a parts manual for half an hour.

Re: The Chateau Diaries and other chateau channels
I wish we could get more people in here too! I don't really watch his vlogs anymore, he's so boring! Grasping at straws for content, as if there was nothing interesting going on he could film, when he is living in a chateau in France! He strikes me as lazy compared to Stephanie, who is at least smart enough to find content, even if a bit contrived like the lamp upcycle or the cocktail bar thing. But at least it's a narrative and a structurally interesting vlog. Her volunteers help liven the place up for sure, which is why again they should be paid if only for that. Imagine the boredom of just her and "mummy." Apparently she has a videographer now, volunteer of COURSE.Gurutard wrote: ↑Sun Sep 27, 2020 3:21 pmI wish more people discussed them on here. Re: The Chateau Diaries and other chateau channels
He is boring. Someone commented (either here or the comments I cant remember) that he looks like he smells. He just seems very strange to me. I personally want to know why a 34 year old was living with his brother in France with no job to begin with... I mean he literally even relies on them to drive him since he doesn't drive. Whats more pathetic than having his mum drive him to Stephanies... Michael Pathethic.hopelesscoffeeaddict wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 3:10 amI wish we could get more people in here too! Re: The Chateau Diaries and other chateau channels
Oh how I’ve wondered about so much of this for months!
The financials are what I really do not understand.
Stephanie goes on about her father growing up without means and has said her mother was self made as well. They sold a couple of Alzheimer’s nursing homes but that was a long time ago so no new revenue stream there unless there was some patient inheritance associated with it.
Lots of taxes due on her mother’s home in the UK, Stephanie’s London flat and I’m assuming the South African home as well.
She herself claims to have done some admin (poorly) for both her parents and Gerry’s taxi service which is the extent of her work history.
Her father never sold one piece of artwork either. And according to Stephanie, all she and her father ever did was go to auctions and buy her suites of furniture, sets of dishes and artwork galore.
The Château has never supported itself. Michael Potts recently bought into it so cash infusion there. Escape to the Château DIY does not pay the participants. Maybe the French BnB show had a cash prize.
No idea if they pay their bills but the one broken stained glass window from the Chapel sat for 6 years with an unpaid bill of 2k€.
In one year Stephanie and Gerry took two very very expensive vacations of a lifetime to Egypt and Viet Nam. Stephanie took several vacations to the UK and a three with Mason who may have footed the bill. During this time who was running the Château? Unpaid volunteers? Nati being paid is a new development. Did they even run the BnB in the winter months?
Also, she flat out refuses to host weddings (other than her mother’s) which Angel and Dick will reaffirm is just about the only way to earn enough to keep running a Château. She does have her vanity projects ie: music retreats. All of the room turnover must be a nightmare for the volunteers there.
Apologies for the length but I’ve never seemed to figure how this all adds up and I didn’t even touch on her personal spending. The brocantes are fun and all but her candle and perfume bill alone is $$$.
That all said, she is an incredibly talented presenter and should be working as such. And props to her surviving during the early days (as someone aptly dubbed the Grey Gardens days) of the Château.

Re: The Chateau Diaries and other chateau channels
The finances are a complete mystery, agreed. I simply don't believe her story about struggle and strain. My guess is "rich ex husband", because I know she was married once. And I also believe her parents are/were richer than they show, surely. Who knows what shady stuff went on with those nursing homes, I wouldn't put it past "mummy" to scam the odd older person or two out of their estate. I don't know, I just get odd vibes from that family, too many things not adding up. Yes, Stephanie likes the finer things in life, clearly, only the best luxury stuff. Man, those candles alone she bought in Paris, and then all the designer clothes... She has never struggled financially, I am sure of it.P_No wrote: ↑Thu Oct 08, 2020 4:54 pmOh how I’ve wondered about so much of this for months!

Re: The Chateau Diaries and other chateau channels
I wish this thread was more active, the Tattle one is so fucking boring and they are too cowardly to write here, but they do lurk around. They just got their panties in a twist because I wrote that "Mummy" may have scammed people. Geez, calm the fuck down, it was a joke. Stop lurking here if you get so easily upset and stay in your boring fan forum where every tiny negative thing gets censored. They got all hysterical when some people talked about Stephanie's weird tendency to dress in see through robes all day: "Gosh, not our perfect, flawless chatelaine, how DARE you!" Fuck off with that nonsense. What's the point of a gossip forum when it's just a bunch of delusional fans telling each other how awesome everyone is.
Re: The Chateau Diaries and other chateau channels
Hello there!
I'm one from the other site Tattle, that's how I found you here. No fear of writing on this site at all, I'm using the same name as there too. Don't know why you're calling us cowards and boring fans? Hahaha, I think you're mistaken, but whatever. You should post on Tattle (if you're not already doing so), it seems to be more alive and active than here.
I found Tattle not long ago, and was so happy to be able to speak my mind about the chateau diaries without being scolded by some obsessed fans.
I don't think there's censorship over Tattle at all, although I did complain a couple of days ago, that I was feeling a little uneasy about posting certain things lately, seemed to me that some new people that had signed up recently, were sounding more like the usual fans. But immediately everyone confirmed that people who were offended or uncomfortable with anything said, should not be there and go back to the fansites.
I agree with everything that's been brought up here and over there about finances, volunteers (free labor), etc. etc.
Lately I'm getting a little (every day more,) annoyed with Stephanie and her fake laugh and over the top adjectives about everything. She's overly dramatic, and needs to be the star of the show ALWAYS, and doesn't seem to realize that there would be no show at all, without her cast of characters a.k.a. all the people who work for free to keep her business up and running. Because it is a fucking business for profit after all, and what I see her doing, mostly, is spending $ decorating the B&B with extravagant fabrics and wallpapers. Not much chapel or castle renovation. What a scheme!
I'm fascinated by chateaux so I keep watching, and she's actually very good in front of the camera and with most of her content. She keeps it mostly interesting and diverse, unlike Michael & Co., but I'm afraid I may not last too long, I can't take all these freeloaders and cyber beggars that expect people to pay for their dreams and lifestyle.
So anyways, hope to make sense cause I'm tired and have a headache.

Re: The Chateau Diaries and other chateau channels
I do not appreciate Tattle people dragging my name into their forum and making their shitty fan thread about me instead of talking about the chateau and Stephanie, so I'm out of here. Thanks for spoiling my fun, I can 100% see why Tattle is so disliked here.

A little rich coming form someone who made the original antagonistic post, I feel! You seemed to have set out to create an offensive post and now thrown your toys out of the pram!hopelesscoffeeaddict wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 1:08 amI do not appreciate Tattle people dragging my name into their forum and making their shitty fan thread about me instead of talking about the chateau and Stephanie, so I'm out of here.
