those tweets were pretty dumb and he missed the point entirely.
Yes, people can be very sensitive.. but also she was queerbaiting, and people have a right to point it out.
In addition to that, Shane came out at 25+ to a mother who seems to accept him unconditionally and an audience who constantly supports him. Ryland appears to also have a good family support system after coming out.
Not all of us are so lucky.
There's privilege in that so of course they might not be as offended about a straight person inserting themselves into the coming out experience and exploiting it for views, but for him to see people are upset and try to shame them into silence is so fucking self-absorbed, condescending, and shows a complete lack of empathy for other queer people's experiences.
