Poll to see how many people think the furniture and political posts are off topic.

I don’t believe they were off topic. The furniture was spot-on ON-topic. The woman is a voracious spendthrift, and I think the research the poster put into the links was a perfect back-up of her tendencies.

The political discussion was not my cup of tea, but I also don’t believe it was off-topic. Alfie made a statement regarding his potential political party in a video, and people were discussing the veracity of his statement.

I understand the mods have to take reports seriously, but some of these reports seem pretty petty if you ask me.

How on earth are either off topic? Zoella is all about materialism so we love to see the tat in her house and Alfie made all the headlines with his politicical declaration.

Both are on topic, but perhaps a few of the political ones got a bit in-depth or bordering off topic.

In my opinion furniture was spot on topic. Political i'm not sure but it was interesting to read as i dont live in uk. So i didn't mind them in main thread

I’m mainly a lurker because I’ve been reading this thread for years and I feel like I don’t have anything new to add, but I loved the furniture posts especially! Also thought the political stuff was super interesting, although I’m from South America so I wasn’t always sure of what was happening. But definitely more interesting than the boobs and bump conversations the 500th time around. xx

Definitely on topic! I was loving scrolling through all the posts when I was sick, it's fun to actually have something interesting to read about instead of the typical boobs, diet, acne etc.

I'm a lurker too, never commented before because I just don't have anything to add to the boobs-bump-acne conversation which keeps getting repeated.

I found the furniture posts fascinating - zoe is a very materialistic person, about 50% of her videos are some kind of haul and 100% of them contain sponsored products/affiliate links. She has basically built her brand around possessions (car boot hauls in the early days, sponsored lush and glossier hauls these days). As such, I think it was completely on topic to discuss her belongings.

I can see why the political discourse was more controversial, but I think that was on topic too. After all, her partner has actually discussed his politics a little in his videos ("I'm not a tory!" whilst sitting in their superfluous second house lol), and a person's politics are merely an extension of their values. Why is it off-topic to discuss somebody's values, which are the very core of a person, when the topic of the thread is that person?
