Re: Charles Gross - Part 2
I actually think his "money" is the money his parents saved for him to go to college, which he did not use, and which is running out. (Also, could that be what he tried suing them over, to get access to that money?)

Re: Charles Gross - Part 2
That's a reach lol. There's literally an article on a news site about his building called something like 'Once Upon a Time, No One Wanted This Place' detailing the history and increase in worth of the apartment homes.eastsidebabe wrote:We have no idea how much money his parents have. Not every wealthy person wants to live in a modern glitzy apartment. And many very wealthy people lived on Riverside Drive all through the 70's, 80's, etc. Its a landmarked Art Deco building which was probably of interest to his father. Wealthy people lived on Central Park West too, including many many celebrities (Lennon, Streisand, Madonna, Alec Baldwin), before Soho, Tribeca even existed. They stayed there although crime was high in the west 70's and west 80's.
His parents seem interested in antiques, artifacts collected while travelling, things that have meaning to them. I love the style; its warm and homey. If his parents had a billion, I suspect they would remain there.
Also, no one has any idea how much anyone else makes unless they're married. We know his parents area, names, and professions. It's a very reasonable assumption that they make the same salary other people in their occupation and area make which is a simple glassdoor search. It's very simple follow the bouncing ball logic, and saying "well we don't know for sure" is kind of a trite "no duh" thing, no? No one commented "I did the Gross families 2016 tax audit!"
I think you're clinging to this idea he's putting out that he's rich and "above" showing it off. It's not actually true.

Re: Charles Gross - Part 2
I agree about the degree part. It's sad he can't work up the guts to go back to school.hatespoiledbrats wrote:Applesthatread, I guess I just assumed his parents are wealthier than they are. And that makes it even more confusing that they haven't kicked him out.
But I totally agree with you on the snarky remarks about college grads. That's the ever-growing part of Charles that realizes he's been left behind.
Because you know what? Those people that busted their ass for a "useless" degree are doing better than him. Even if they are poor as shit, they have a better social life, better prospects for a future, and they aren't looking for an "old guy with money who wants to babysit me" on the internet.
And honestly, I never have and never will understand the obsession with handbags. 95% of bags go out of style after 5minutes, and if you paid actual money for it you're a chump because anyone who actually matters gets that $40,000 Birkin for free.
The bag part tho no... I have a Birkin and while he exaggerates how many ppl care (very few irl) it is a timeless bag and very exclusive. Even Jane Birkin, the woman the Birkin is named after, is rumored to have had to pay for the bag at Hermes. Even the Kardashians pay for their Birkins. Hermes doesn't give a shred of f*ck about celeb endorsement, their entire business model is built on being expensive and hard to get.

That article is from 2005. (http://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/19/nyreg ... place.html)
I imagine everything has gone up significantly in 12 years.
Fuck! I live in a shit hole bachelor apartment in Los Angeles for 1200 a month! Studios in Brooklyn start at like 1700 on a good day! I'm not sure what your definition of an expensive home is, you may come from a family of money yourself, or earn a great living (and that's amazing if you do), but to me, an average lady, his house is worth alot.

Re: Charles Gross - Part 2
To be clear- their family has owned that place for a long long time. I don't remember what vid Charles mention it in but they bought that place way before Charles was even born (before 1994 or 95). When you pay 400,000 for a complex and it appreciates in value to being worth 3 million, that doesn't mean you suddenly start paying 3 million dollars. They own the home which means they gained the difference between lets say 3 million and 400,000 in equity. Should they choose to sell the property, they would be millionaires. But I think Charles mentioned his parents intend to keep the apartment and have him live in it after they die. So that equity doesn't translate to actual dollars in their bank accounts.Cokezerofortheheart wrote:

Example:
You could own a holographic Charizard pokemon card worth 300,000 dollars and if you're never going to sell it that means you don't have 300k, you have a pokemon card. You didn't buy the card for 300k, you bought it for 5 dollars and it became worth 300k years later. You may very well have 22.30 in your bank account. The card doesn't translate to money as long as you continue to own it.

Re: Charles Gross - Part 2
I have one OT question - where is the most expensive place to live in NYC? Is the upper west side considered middle class?
He's been on my mind a lot. I'll admit he's been bugging the crap out of me for the last few months, but I honestly think this kid has potential. He is articulate and doesn't sound like 90% of the bubblebrains on YT. I think he makes himself out to be more superficial than he really is. Anxiety can completely derail a person. I wish he'd find a mentor who could guide him into something he'd like. Having an older person you respect guiding you can be really beneficial. He's unfortunately his own worst enemy though.
I spontaneously drove to a private mental facility in the midst of a huge panic attack. I couldn't take it anymore. I only stayed a night, but they made me feel really safe and welcomed there. It can be a positive experience if you don't wind up in a large psychiatric ER or something along those lines. And regular ERs leave you waiting for a long time and don't really know how to help you anyway.

HOWEVER, your net worth still increases. Your wealth includes your investments and holdings. They are wealthy. Not "filthy rich" by any stretch but they definitely don't have to worry about money, which if Charles would/could take advantage of could go a long way towards him establishing himself.
Indeed.

Re: Charles Gross - Part 2
Just to let everyone know since I previously exposed Charles completely, other apartments the same as Charles' in the SAME building and SAME size go for around ~$2mil, which is still very affordable compared to other buildings, and it's history still drags the price down. He legit lives on the 2nd to 4th floor based on the windows opposite in his vlogs.bumbling_buzzard wrote:I have one OT question - where is the most expensive place to live in NYC? 3. NoHo $2,662,500
4. DUMBO $2,404,070
5. NoMad $1,960,131
6. Hudson Square $1,894,321
7. Chelsea $1,830,000
8. Battery Park City $1,705,000
9. Greenwich Village $1,650,000
10. Carnegie Hill $1,595,000
11. Forest Hills Gardens $1,562,500
12. Theatre District - Times Square $1,432,919
13. Carroll Gardens $1,430,000
14. Cobble Hill $1,315,000
15. Central Midtown $1,300,000
16. Flatiron District $1,270,000
17. Lincoln Square $1,210,000
18. Upper West Side $1,200,000
19. West Village $1,192,500

Re: Charles Gross - Part 2
I'm not clinging to any ideas. I'm very familiar with his apartment, the area, his parents 9 to 5 jobs etc. I read the NYT article when it was originally published. Charles has been quite open about all of this. He doesn't hide the lifestyle of his parents or the apartment. A bouncing ball ends up in many places; don't know why you are so determined to prove Charles a fake. It's irrelevant in the big scheme of things. And the "duh" was completely unnecessary and patronizing to boot.ApplesThatRead wrote:That's a reach lol. I did a quick search on his apartment and his father is listed as a "Renter". There were several other tenants listed on the website I found and their statuses ranged from "Homeowner" to "Renter". Why is his dad not listed as a Homeowner? Are the apartment(s) in his mom's name?

Re: Charles Gross - Part 2
That notification in the middle of my editing workflow had me gasping for air lmao. So I was totally wrong and he went to rehab for drugs (still confused how that works for 72 hours but okay). He seemed like he was telling the truth from his demeanor. I have to say he's visibly refreshed and very calm. He said his sister uploaded the vid for him in response to GG. I still want a formal ban on him reading his own guru gossip though, like for real.
That said, and I'm not the person to pay unnecessary compliments, his eyes look radiant and lively. Recommend this vid if you don't normally watch all the way through, this one was pretty good.

He did look good, but every time I've had to switch or get off medication, they taper slowly. How the heck did they do it in 72 hours? I've always been warned that not properly tapering can sometimes lead to seizures.
Regardless, I'm glad he got the help he needed.

I know someone who voluntarily committed themselves for 72 hrs many moons ago when they were struggling with manic behavior - the right facility will help you with your medications, which it sounds like they did for Charles. The sex addiction was not something I assumed he'd bring up at all but it makes sense considering how he bounced from being anti-Grindr on and off so many times.

Like always, you hit the nail on the head. Agree with everything said above. I must've missed where he said he went specifically for drugs, I thought it was the sex addiction/unhealthy coping mechanisms he mentioned. I wonder if he finding his his adoption records recently was the straw that broke the camels back for him which triggered him
Re: Charles Gross - Part 2
I have to say I think this was a big step for Charles and a really good one. Time will tell how this experience will shape him but I really sincerely am happy to see him in a healthier and clearer state of mind. There was something about the video that felt really old school Charles. I really miss him having this kind of vibe. Obviously it's all still very "real" for him right now, but I like this open-ness and meaningfulness to Charles as opposed to what we've seen recently. I wish him luck and I hope he continues working to better himself because Charles really does have potential.

Re: Charles Gross - Part 2
He does look calm and grounded.
Sounds to me this place was a quick fix. "...shut everything down and wake up on the other side." What does that mean? They don't give you Internet access, but instead give you a powerful meds cocktail, some accupuncture, a little Reiki, give you wheatgrass shots, and then let you sleep for most of the three days so you can wake up refreshed?
And that's fine if it help sets him off on a new, inspired healthy lifestyle. But this is Charles we're talking about. Is he going to break up with Hermes? Start using body spray rather than perfume? Eat steamed veggies rather than cookies?
Can't wait to see the changes, if any, he makes from here on out.
