Her video where she was all “screw you im a musician and I’m happy” like I watched five minutes of it and got bored...if she’s happy good for her but she would be literally nowhere if it wasn’t for her YouTube teenage fans buying her records.
She said she was would be quitting making videos for YouTube then uploaded a Sims cooking video...probably sponsered (I get they have to do sponsored videos... but if she’s such a musician she wouldn’t need YouTube spon videos...?
(Also the screw you im happy this isn’t a phase definitely seems like she’s been reading here...)

Hi, Emma, if you're reading:MsMaybe wrote:Her video where she was all “screw you im a musician and I’m happy” like I watched five minutes of it and got bored...if she’s happy good for her but she would be literally nowhere if it wasn’t for her YouTube teenage fans buying her records.

We're glad you're happy, we just wish you would:
A: listen to your fans again, as they are the ones that got you to where you are in the first place and thinking otherwise is pure delusion and going back to the 2013 egotistical laughing stock, B: stop acting like you're the next Taylor Swift now you've charted a song at Number 72 , and C: only take sponsored videos when they don't go against something you've massively pushed for in the past (eg. the Rimmel video).
She seems really distant from her fanbase now she's a 'real musician' too, her complete turnaround at the beginning of the year spelt the beginning of the end. She isn't big enough to hold onto fans if she alienates them. Her engagement was primarily done through her YouTube channel, and in trying to quit that, she's cutting off all the people that actually like her new/old music. Maybe it's what she wants, but if she wants to be a popular musician she needs to keep in touch with her fanbase.

There's something not right with this one. You'd have to be detached from reality to be like her. Something is not right in all of this and at the very least she's blasted off to another universe propelled by her unstoppable ego.

Re: Emma Blackery Part 2
She literally built her audience by trying to tap every popular trend on YouTube - beauty channels (solo and with cherry), comedy sketches, vlogs, the gaming channel. That's what got all of her subscribers interested in her, and that's the only reason her music has a following. Nobody would know her otherwise, like you said she's delusional to believe that. She's completely disregarding all of that now, criticising the people that are still expecting... the thing they subscribed for? The absolute hypocrisy of being sponsored by rimmel after spending so long preaching cruelty-free still really riles me up. It's clear that she was only doing it for her own benefit, and trying to target an audience who were interested in that, but now it's more lucrative for her to fuck the bunnies and 'get that spon'.chocolatecheesecakes wrote:Hi, Emma, if you're reading:MsMaybe wrote:Her video where she was all “screw you im a musician and I’m happy” like I watched five minutes of it and got bored...if she’s happy good for her but she would be literally nowhere if it wasn’t for her YouTube teenage fans buying her records.

edit, i had an afterthought: it's like buying a magazine subscription, let's say Playboy, and then a few months down the line it decides to completely change its content. Like, hey, you signed up for the boobs but now we're going to start giving you gardening tips ok!! and you're not allowed to complain or stop paying us because we're serious about gardening now (and that's totally what we've been about all along!). You're not allowed to want the old stuff!!! ... except we might throw in the odd tit here and there when we need a bit extra $$

I wonder why she's not vegan anymore, i know she doesnt talk about diet but its especially weird that she was all cruelty free on her beauty channel then decides to accept a sponsorship from a company that isn't cruelty free. I mean i understand if she just lost the motivation to keep being cruelty free (not saying its right or wrong, but i get it) even so, it still seems weird to advertise something you were once so opposed to, to people who know that you are against it. (or at least you were at one point)
She just gets worse as time goes on tbh. She only makes actual content when its a sponsorship (suprised the sims video wasn't). Everything else is just her bitching that people keep referring to her as a YouTuber/vlogger or people saying that her music sucks. One thing is for sure, if she wants to make it in the music world she needs to learn how to take criticism and how to talk to her fans. Honestly can't believe she snapped at someone for asking what her favorite Metallica song is
And Emma if you're reading this, not every "critique" you get requires a 20 minute video of the same spiel you've given a million times. If you were so happy (and if you truly are, good for you. But i find that hard to believe) you wouldn't feel the need to explain yourself so often. Make your music, enjoy doing it but its going to get criticized. YOU are going to get criticized. If you keep letting it get to you this much you'll never make it. Try not to put all of your eggs in one basket.
Please excuse my shitty english. I have no excuse, but at least I acknowledge my horrible grammar and typing skills.

Re: Emma Blackery Part 2
I haven’t seen it but some of the IPOAD ones make me feel a bit awkward..with her behaviours.... when she said she had to take pictures of all her clothes so someone could tell her what to throw away....I get the stylist part for photo shoots and stuff but for your everyday clothes?moshmellow wrote:Her new vloggery video made me feel really uncomfortable she seems a bit hysterical and vulnerable idk

And the whole “Worst phone call ever”...kinda made it seem like something horrific had happened to her or someone close to her but it was really just postponing a tour?
She comes across as a bit erratic sometimes...I think she’s came across as a bit of a brat lately (and the fact she’s tweeted what we’ve said kinda proves she knows it)....but it’s still uncomfortable and that at times.
Re: Emma Blackery Part 2
I've been lurking for 4 years but Emma's latest saga made me finally sign up. Hi. Anyway.
I cannot think of something more cringe than her reading here religiously, going through the trouble of making an account here and commenting, and tweeting something out in response to the discussion here. I literally cannot think of something more cringier. It is definitely not something a happy, grounded, satisfied person would do. Nor a busy person, sorry Emma.
I don't buy this "I'm a musician!!" schtick, it has happened before, it won't last, this isn't different. This saga is also, incredibly forced. You can't just decide to be a completely new persona and expect people not to respond to it. All her *calm, cool* tweets starting with "Hello. I have xxx and xxx coming up" etc etc... It's so transparent that she's just trying really really hard to be someone she made up in her head.
You are not Taylor Swift, and people don't even take her seriously anymore. She waited a whole year to put out revenge songs... I have never heard of someone more lacking a whole personality.
She's doing this, in my opinion, to find a space and create a persona for herself apart from the YouTube crowd she majestically failed to be an organic part of. When her album flops in a few months, she'll go back to scheduled-programming-with-a-set Emma to "get back to her roots". You are transparent girl.
I hate Dodie Clark as well but she is the example of being a musician first. She just records songs and puts them up in between big projects, always doing covers etc. I don't see her explaining herself with numerous videos about being a musician. She just is. I don't like one bit of her personality, but I would still call her a singer/songwriter before a YouTuber.
I wonder if Emma will ever be relaxed and organic. She's always trying to live up to an image she thinks is the best person to be.
Also, if she actually keeps responding here I will scream. That is so pathetic.

Re: Emma Blackery Part 2
emma has always been an odd one
her older videos are so funny but i feel like she has not clue who she is
the endless reinvention, the i make music now not a youtuber anymore
just feels fake.
he last single sounded like Ty song and not in a good way
the video with the bad dancing too and it tanked in the charts
she is trying to hard its getting old.
if anything its a little sad

Re: Emma Blackery Part 2
Emma's efforts lack authenticity which will keep her from ever being truly successful in any given field - music, youtube, whatever. She comes across as a wannabe and a martyr. For someone who has been on youtube for 6+ years and has over a million subscribers, charting at #72 on the UK chart is actually kinda weak (Dan and Phil's single from their tour charted at #2, granted it was for charity but still). Especially considering Dirt wasn't competing with a lot of new songs hitting the chart at the same time, a strong, engaged following could've gotten it much higher, but it seems the interest just really isn't there.

I wonder what Emma's real-life friends and other YouTubers think about her reading and commenting on here so often. I remember Hazel Hayes going on a massive (and ridiculous, but entertaining) twitter rant at Dodie's sister Hedy, saying that reading your own thread on here is the stupidest thing someone could ever do. I can imagine a lot of the people Emma's friends with having similar opinions about it.

The difference between her and Dan and Phil is that they have one of the most dedicated fanbases out there and her fanbase is much smaller and not as dedicated in comparison. I think removing so many of her old videos was a mistake, but that might just be me.sunnyb123 wrote:Emma's efforts lack authenticity which will keep her from ever being truly successful in any given field - music, youtube, whatever. And Dan and Phil seem quite genuine. I watch their videos but I’m not in the fan base as such. They come across a lot more like actual people with likes and dislikes rather than bandwagon hoppers.onetruetrash wrote:The difference between her and Dan and Phil is that they have one of the most dedicated fanbases out there and her fanbase is much smaller and not as dedicated in comparison. How long until Emma changes her hair again? after moaning about it being different lengths, it’s finally the way she likes it...she’ll bleach it again within a few months and then moan again.
Re: Emma Blackery Part 2
OK, I’m not someone who talks much on here, usually I just read, but a question hit me the other night—what can Emma do to actually PROVE this whole “I’m a musician” thing?
And then, an answer came. If Emma wants to be seen as a musician, why not make music content on her channel? She could make covers, or break down how she writes, or whatever. I dunno, but I think it would be fun to see.
Not only that, but it wouldn’t have to take the place of anything. She could still do sponsored videos, she could still do IPOAD, the whole shtick.
I don’t know. It’s just an idea.
Right, with that out of my brain, back to lurking...
