My point is, I think the general tone of our little corner here is we are mostly pro-Sam. We all started as supporters of her and watching her downfall has been quite disheartening. As a wife and mother myself I wish I could take her by the hand and be her friend, to lead her far away from her jobless pig of a husband. She deserves better....and you fucking know it Jay

Amen, sistah! Only in my case, I feel quite motherly toward Sam. She is only a little older than my oldest child. I wish I could step in and give her some motherly advise that she so desperately needs. Do you ladies ever wonder if Shelli has tried, but has been given the cold shoulder by Sam? Shelli comes off as being very warm, outgoing, and sensible to me. If she has tried to be a mother figure to Sam and been rebuffed, that would certainly explain why their relationship seems a bit strained.

I honestly believe the biggest majority of Sam's issues come directly from losing her mom. For one it was obviously traumatic for her, and she seems to have been close to her mom as a child. But it's also obvious that things Sam should have learned...about men, relationships, how to parent, how to dress and behave like a lady, how to cook and sew and take care of a home, ect...she missed out on learning because of not having a mom during her teens and early 20's. I'm also thinking that maybe the reason she is so clingy to both Jay and the kids is because of the type of relationship her parents had before her mom died, and the way Jon behaved after ward? It seems like maybe, from what Sam has said in the past, that she and her siblings were kind of left to raise themselves after her mom died. It's such a shame for Sam that she isn't close to Shelli and that she has no relationship at all with Jay's mom. They could have potentially been very good for her and for the kids as well.
